Registration

 

  • Can I register on race day?
    • Yes, race day registration will be available near the Starting Line at Sigma Sigma Commons until 30 minutes prior to the start of the races.
  • Can I switch events after I have already registered?
    • Yes, you can switch events by emailing the Michele Berry Godsey at mberrylaw2007@gmail.com no later than September 28, 2018.
  • Can I get a refund after I have registered?
    • No, all entries to the Bearcats Dash & Bash are non-refundable and non-transferable.  After we have received and accepted your entry, we cannot issue a refund, allow you to transfer your number to another participant, or defer your registration to the next year.
  • When does online Registration close?
    • Online registration ends October 7, 2018 shortly before the race. You can also register on Sunday morning at the starting line from 7:00 to 8:15 a.m.
  • Do you have Team Registration?  If so, how do I join an existing team or register my group as a team?

 

Awards

 

  • Are there awards?
    • Yes! All Finishers earn a medal!
    • In addition to Finisher Medals, awards also will be given to the Overall first, second, and third place female and male finishers of the 18.19K and 5K; the top three female and male UC Alumni finishers of the 18.19K and 5K; and the top 3 age-group finishers in each of the following age groups for both females and males: 10 and under (5K only); 11-14 (5K only); 14 and under (18.19K only); 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65 and over.
    • Awards will be given on race day at an awards ceremony shortly after all award-winners have finished the race.
    • Overall winners will be excluded from age-group awards.

 

 

Packet Pick-up & Late Bird Registration

 

  • When and where can I pick up my packet?

The packet pickups are at the following times and locations:

  • Thursday, October 4th, 4-7pm at Fleet Feet, 3235 Madison Rd. in Oakley
  • Friday, October 5th, 10am-noon, Fleet Feet, 3235 Madison Rd. in Oakley
  • Friday, October 5th, 4 pm – 7 pm, Woodburn Brewery, 2800 Woodburn Ave.,
    45206 (East Walnut Hills, DeSales Corner area)
  • Saturday, October 6th, 8 am – 11:30 am, Grid tailgate area at Sigma Sigma Commons.
    South end of Grid nearest the stadium. time determined by game time
  • Sunday, October 7th, before the race, 7 am to 8:15 near the start line.
  • Do you mail out participant packets?
    • No, we do not mail the participant packets.  They must be picked up in person.
  • Can I register in person at any of the packet pick-ups?
    • Yes, registration is open for late birds to register in person at all packet pick-up times and locations.
  • Can someone else pick up my packet?
    • In order for someone else to pick up the packet for a participant who is 18 years or older, the alternate person must present one of the following:
      • Your confirmation email or order number;
      • A signed note from you stating that you are allowing them to pick up your packet;
      • A copy of your driver’s license;

 

Course information

  • Are course maps available?
  • Are the courses traffic controlled?
    • The 5K course takes place almost entirely on the University of Cincinnati campus.  The 18.19K course will have traffic control, however, of course, protection and traffic control on city roads will be gradually removed, as the 18.19K course has a 3-hour time limit. All participants must be able to maintain a 15:50 min./mile pace.  Any participants who cannot maintain this pace will be directed off the course for their safety as traffic routes reopen.
  • Do the courses have time limits?
    • The 18.19K course has a 3-hour time limit, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and closing at 11:30 a.m.  So if you can cover less than 4 miles per hour (or approximately 15: 50-minute miles), try our signature distance!  The 5K course, which opens at 9 a.m., will close at 11:30 a.m. as well.
    • Additionally, there will be pace-makers along the 18.19K course to help you reach your goal time or train for your next race!  Pacers will be available for the following half-marathon finishing times (with pace per mile in parenthesis):
      • 1:32 (7:00/mile)
      • 1:45 (8:00/mile)
      • 1:58 (9:00/mile)
      • 2:11 (10:00/mile)
      • 2:38 (12:00/mile)

 

  • Does this race have pace-makers to help me achieve a goal finishing time?
    • Yes, pacers will be available along the 18.19K course to help you reach your goal time or train for your next race!  Pacers will be available for the following half-marathon finishing times (with pace per mile in parenthesis):
      • 1:32 (7:00/mile)
      • 1:45 (8:00/mile)
      • 1:58 (9:00/mile)
      • 2:11 (10:00/mile)
      • 2:38 (12:00/mile)

 

  • How are the courses timed?
    • The 5K and 18.19K will use chip timing.  The chip will be attached to the back of your race bib/number.
  • Are the courses USATF certified?
    • Yes, the 5K course is USATF certified, and the 18.19K course is measured according to USATF standards. Please see the forthcoming course map for the 5K certification code.
  • Are aid stations provided on the courses?
    • Yes, aid stations will be available along both courses, approximately every two miles, where water (for both courses) and Gatorade (for the 18.19K course only) will be provided.
  • Are headphones allowed?
    • Yes, but please use headphones at your own risk making sure that you remain aware of directions from traffic control personnel as well as the safety of yourself and other runners.
  • Is there a minimum age requirement?
    • No, as long as participants can meet the course time limits, all ages are welcome!
  • Am I allowed to push a stroller?
    • Strollers and baby joggers are permitted on both courses, but please, for the safety of all participants, LINE UP AT THE BACK OF THE STARTING AREA and be aware of your safety, the safety of your rider and other race participants, and the course time limits.  If at any time course officials determine that the stroller is a danger to any participants or that the rider is in danger, you will be asked to leave the course.
  • Can I bring my dog?
    • No, sorry! We love animals, but they are not allowed on the courses unless they are assisting visually or otherwise physically impaired participants with prior notice to and authorization by the Bearcats Dash & Bash.
  • Can I ride a bike or skateboard, wear skates, etc.
    • Bicycles, skateboards, roller or inline skates, and anything similar are not permitted on the courses.
  • Is there an inclement weather policy?
    • Your safety is our priority. In the event of severe weather- including lightning, high winds, or extreme heat or cold- the Race Director has the discretion to delay the start time or cancel the race prior to or during the race.

 

Parking

If you are interested in pre-purchasing a parking pass for $5, please follow this link: https://ucparking.t2hosted.com/pnw2/selectValue.aspx.  After clicking the parking link, click on “Other Events” then click on “Bearcats Dash & Bash Parking.” Then click on the box for “Bearcats Dash & Bash,” and add the $5 parking pass to University Garage to your basket.  When you checkout, DO NOT CREATE A GUEST ACCOUNT.  Next, enter your email address and proceed to check out by entering your payment information.  Once you have purchased the pass, then print it and bring it with you on race day to present to the parking garage attendant. The parking garage attendants and volunteers staffing the Bearcats Dash & Bash will not have a record of who has purchased parking passes, so you MUST PRINT YOUR PARKING PASS.

Spectators

 

  • Are spectators permitted on the course?
    • The courses are all traffic-controlled so spectators are welcome at any point along the way.  Cheer, bring signs, don’t by shy! The runners love your support!
